Residence
Southwest WA

Our client, a picturesque residence located in the beautiful surrounds of Southwest WA, required a retractable shade solution for a large deck in their custom-built home.

A retractable shade solution was required to ensure that winter sun could enter the home as per solar passive principles. The solution also needed to provide effective shade during summer for family, friends and particularly grandchildren when accessing the pool.

Due to the depth of the deck being up to 4.5m, a series of MaxiZip Retractable Conservatory Awnings were proposed due to their light weight feel. The awning fabric is zipped into sidetracks, locking the fabric into a special inlay to allow the awning to withstand high winds – an ideal solution for coastal and exposed areas.

Soltex worked closely with the client’s builder to design a purpose-built steel structure for each MaxiZip Retractable Conservatory Awning to affix to. The motorised awnings can all be controlled individually or grouped together, with wind sensors enabling automatic retraction in prevailing weather conditions – providing peace of mind for our client.
