Residential
Aged Care

Artisan Co. Landscaping was awarded the contract for landscape works at the newly constructed Catholic Homes residential aged care facility in Belmont.

Soltex was engaged to provide two Shaderunner® Retractable Shade Sails to the communal courtyard living spaces in the multistorey aged care facility.

Soltex worked closely with the landscape designers to tailor the retractable shade sails to sizes that maximised the shaded area for the elderly clientele while also meeting budgetary restrictions. The sails were fixed using threaded sleeves for a high strength minimalist aesthetic.

As the courtyards are central light wells to the building, each Shaderunner® can be retracted back easily to let natural light and warmth into the building.

The end result was maximum sun protection for the aged care residents in their two communal outdoor spaces. The retractable functionality of the shade sails allows for solar passive principles to be maximised by the facility – reducing running costs. Artisan Co. appreciated the design support from Soltex and a timely install due to time pressures from the build.
