The Shoe Bar’s west facing terrace deck was beloved by its patrons for its fantastic view. However during sunset, the terrace became almost unusable due to harsh sunlight. Soltex retractable arm awnings provided the perfect solution.

The project included the installation of 5 x Retractable folding arm awnings to the exterior of a busy inner-city bar in the Perth CBD. Their west-facing terrace deck provided a fantastic viewing and entertaining area for patrons; however, the terrace became almost unusable with the harsh setting sun. Umbrellas were not suitable, as with the windy evenings, they had to be manually brought in by staff, and they limited the usable space on the terrace deck. Soltex was set the task to source a retractable awning that not only was compact and stylish when concealed but also could withstand moderate to high winds.

The Weinor Semina Life full cassette Folding Arm Awning was recommended for its sleek and elegant profile, ability to withstand strong winds and capacity to be angled at 40- degrees to provide maximum protection. Paired with Somfy RTS remote and Elosis 3D sensor, this hassle-free automated solution can be used by all staff. Soltex had an engineer design a beam with offset cleats to allow for mounting onto the steel cladding of the building, they also required working permits for the high traffic area and coordinated a crane to lift the outdoor awnings and beam into place. With the folding arm awnings in place the venue is now able to provide patrons with shade during its peak trading times, removing the need for umbrellas which were an operational hazard. Enjoying a cheeky beverage on a summer afternoon just got a lot more comfortable for the customers at the Shoe Bar in Perth.
