The project included the installation of a custom-built, motorised, retractable roof system to the client’s central courtyard of their architecturally designed home in Cottesloe. The all-weather solution when retracted fits seamlessly into the architecture of the home with custom brackets installed between vertical garden framework. When fully extended the retractable roof still allows for natural light penetration into the home but reduces the heat transfer from the sun, whilst also providing essential rain protection in winter for the clients furniture. The Soltex team had to erect scaffolding to reach the top of the 3 storey void, this had to be brought through the 2nd floor balcony. The roof system is operated via remote control and a rain sensor which extends the roof system when it starts raining.
The client can now use their internal courtyard all your round and have added valuable living space to their property. The waterproof retractable awning allows the client to control the amount of sun all year round with the additional benefit of reducing cooling costs in summer.
